Mumbai, December 5, 2024: In a grand ceremony held at Azad Maidan in Mumbai, Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the third time. Alongside him, Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar were sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union Ministers, and prominent dignitaries from Maharashtra. The atmosphere was electric, with thousands of supporters and party workers cheering and waving flags.

Fadnavis, who has been a key leader in Maharashtra politics for over two decades, expressed his gratitude to the people of Maharashtra and promised to work tirelessly for the state’s development. “I am humbled by the trust placed in me, and I assure the people of Maharashtra that I will leave no stone unturned to ensure the state’s progress and prosperity,” he said.

Shinde, who has been a key ally of Fadnavis, thanked the Prime Minister and the BJP leadership for reposing faith in him. “I am committed to working for the welfare of the people of Maharashtra, and I am confident that together, we will achieve great things,” he said.

Pawar, a veteran leader from the NCP, expressed his gratitude to Fadnavis and the BJP leadership for including him in the government. “I am committed to working for the development of Maharashtra, and I am confident that together, we will be able to achieve great things,” he said.

The new government in Maharashtra is expected to focus on several key areas, including infrastructure development, agriculture, education, and healthcare. The government is also expected to take steps to boost the state’s economy and create new job opportunities.

The swearing-in ceremony comes after the Maharashtra Assembly Elections, which saw the Mahayuti Alliance, led by the BJP, winning a majority of seats. The alliance secured 223 seats in the 288-member assembly, with the BJP winning 102 seats, the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) winning 55 seats, and the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) winning 26 seats.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, which comprises the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction), the NCP, and the Congress, secured 65 seats.

The Maharashtra Assembly Elections saw a voter turnout of 65%, the highest since 1995. In Mumbai, the voter turnout was 54.52%, a significant increase from the 52.79% recorded in the last assembly polls.

Region-wise, the Mahayuti Alliance performed well in the Mumbai, Konkan, and Thane regions, while the MVA alliance performed better in the Western Maharashtra region.

The new government in Maharashtra is expected to face several challenges, including addressing the state’s economic slowdown, improving infrastructure, and providing relief to farmers affected by drought and floods. However, with a strong mandate and a stable government, Fadnavis and his team are confident of delivering on their promises and taking Maharashtra to new heights.
